Blowers

!: Blowers

There are many types of Blowers -- leaf blowers, industrial blowers, snow blowers, etc, Each type has different subtypes such as backpack, handheld, corded and cordless, wheeled, electric-powered and gas-powered, and so on. Each type and subtype differs in function and purposes. For example, while some of them may be specifically manufactured for home maintenance, other more powerful units are aimed at commercial users.

Electric-powered blowers require an electrical power source provided from an electrical outlet, through an extension cord. Cordless blowers, on the other hand, use rechargeable batteries and are more suitable for smaller areas because of their limited operating time. Mixing oil and gasoline operates gas-powered leaf blowers. 2-stroke gasoline engines generally power backpack blowers, while wheeled units generally have 4-stroke gasoline engines.

Snow blowers can be single-stage and two-stage. The former is a light duty machine that uses a single high-speed impeller (a rotor inside a tube) to pull in snow and expel it from a discharge chute. Two-stage snow blowers on the other hand, are heavy duty and have more than one low-speed metal auger that pull the snow into an impeller, which then discharges the snow into a chute.

Leaf blowers can be handheld, backpack or wheeled. Handhelds are most suitable for simple, home maintenance works. Backpack blowers are swift, has quick throttle response and fuel efficient and generally preferred by professionals. Wheeled or walk-behind leaf blowers are the best for maintaining larger areas and are mostly gas-powered.

Industrial blowers are manufactured using a range of durable plastics and metals, or a combination of both materials. Function includes drying, reducing heat levels, reducing smoke and odors, processing and controlling gaseous fumes in industrial settings like factories.

I Like Tractors

!: I Like Tractors

For anyone who has a tractor and actually uses it for a tractor, you have probably had a flat tire and been looking for good cheap used tractor tires for sale. Most of us would like to have a good supply of them stacked back just in case something happens and we need another one before the day is done. But, that is one of the things we will get around to at some other time.

There always seems to be something that needs to be done around the place, but that is just fine with us because we were looking for something to do, anyway, and getting out there on top of that tractor makes you feel like you are in fact the king of your domain. But, that happens to be the one time you manage to find the only broken bottle left at the side of the road in front of your property. Sure enough you get a flat and need some used tractor rear tires to select from in getting one that can fix the problem.

Just about everything that can be collected has been and tractors are definitely on the list of collectibles. Even large tractors are being sought after, but there is one little one that was around in the 70s that was called "Power King Economy Tractor" and came with attachments that were very handy.

One of those attachments was a belly mower that did a really good job of mowing lawns and small acreage, even though the seat of the tractor was metal. Most of us either rode without any cushion or found something close at hand to help ease the pain when the padding came off the seat.

In addition to other things, the Power King was equipped with a 3-point hitch, which made for being able to use other equipment. Due to the size of this tractor it was easy to get into places where a good yearly garden was needed.

These days most people cannot afford to buy a nice new tractor, even though they really need the features and benefits of such a good piece of equipment. With that said, the search is on for different brands, types and prices. Once in awhile, an individual happens across a situation where not only is it a good money deal, but it happens to be a tractor that they can start their collection with. Now the whole family gets to have fun chasing down parts and equipment.

Just because you have not heard of many of them these days, rest assured that there are still plenty of tractor pulls going on out there, and getting into the action can be a lot of fun. You can meet people from far off places who like tractors, too. And, if you are lucky you will end up with an education in almost every type of tractor and farm equipment ever invented.

Brace yourself for the competition, though. It can get tough out there at these tractor pulls. Especially if there is an antique tractor competition going on because it really gets the excitement going and the good old boys start joking and cheering while watching the true test of courage. Then about this time is when you remember you were supposed to looking for cheap used tractor tires for sale and you have to call home.

Electric Lawn Mowers - Pros and Cons

!: Electric Lawn Mowers - Pros and Cons

Electric lawn mowers seem to have everyone interested, yet not every one is convinced they are a great choice. We have decided to put together a list of the electric lawn mowers pros and cons to help you in determining if an electric mower is for you.

Keep in mind, some of the cons on this list are only cons for some individuals, and not for everyone. Weigh the pros and cons before you jump in and buy an electric mower. It is important that you make a purchase like this, only after you have done your research and determined it is the best choice for you and your lawn.

Pros

- Environmentally friendly
- Mulching/bagging options
- Effortless start
- On average can mow up to an acre of land
- Lightweight
- Quiet
- Reasonably priced
-Easy to maneuver
- Performance is similar to gas powered
- No paying for gas and or oil for the mower
- No need for expensive maintenance
- Variation in voltage to meet more needs
- Deck sizes vary just like gas mowers

Cons

- cord limitations on corded mowers
- battery life varies with grass type/condition
- might need back-up battery for larger lawns
- can only mow about an acre without recharging
- obstacles can limit mowing area due to cord
- less horsepower than gas mower

As you can see, electric mowers have a lot more pros than they do cons. The only real con that we could find that would cause an individual to avoid buying an electric mower is if they had a larger area than an acre to mow.

For people with more than about an acre and a half, an electric mower seems to be more of an inconvenience to use than they are worth. Especially if you will be buying additional back up batteries in order to mow a larger yard in one day. This will add up quickly in a very short amount of time. For one to two extra batteries you can expect to spend anywhere from 0-400 and up.

Of those that are owners of an electric lawn mower, they would all agree, ownership has helped them to make a difference without going without. Performance is always a concern for those still looking into buying an electric mower, but once they do their research, understand the electric lawn mowers pros and cons, and even talk to people that do have an electric mower, they soon realize this is a purchase that they will not regret.

Leaf Blowers - Essential Yard Tools

!: Leaf Blowers - Essential Yard Tools

Quieter Times For The Neighborhood
The leaf blower was invented by Dom Quinto back in the late 1950s. With the advent of today's quieter and more powerful leaf removal systems, these units have become an essential tool for every home and garden. Leaf blowers are typically self-contained hand-held units or backpack mounted units with a hand-held wand, but you'll also find blower-vacuums that let you blow or vacuum and mulch your leaves at the same time. There's a large variety of gas and electric models to accommodate any job.

Backpack Blowers
If you're looking for power or expect to use these tools for extended periods of time you may wish to consider purchasing a backpack model. Typical units in this category are propane or gas powered, have an air velocity of approximately 150 MPH to over 250 MPH and are built for heavy-duty use and a longer life cycle. The modern backpack unit weights in at about 15 to 22 pounds. If you need something with more power then this consider looking into a walk-behind leaf blower.

Handheld Blowers
Today's hand-held leaf blowers are the lightest (e.g. typically 4 to 8 pounds), cheapest and most prevalent models on the market for the average home. These units typically generate 150 MPH to 250 MPH of air speed, have 2 speed controls, and are perfect for clearing leaves and debris from sidewalks, decks and driveways. These units are available in corded, cordless, gas and propane powered styles.

Leaf Blower / Vacuum / Mulcher
The leaf blower vacuum mulcher allows you the ability to blow leaves or vacuum them up and mulch them at the same time. These units typically come with a second nozzle for vacuuming and a debris bag. When checking for these models be especially sure to compare the air speed (MPG) and the air volume (CFM). A convenient quick-release latch lets you convert your blower into a vacuum in seconds without any tools, while a metal impeller makes it easy to mulch debris. The impeller shreds leaves and other unwanted debris into a fine mulch that you can use around your lawn and garden, saving money and recycling important nutrients. It also makes it easy to dispose of unwanted yard waste, since the impeller can reduce over a dozen bags worth of leaves to a single bag.

Walk Behind Leaf Blowers
Walk behind blowers typically run on gasoline engines and are the most powerful models available on the market today for the home. Although these leaf blowing systems are not as flexible as hand-held and backpack models, they are better suited for heavy-duty jobs and large lawns.

Gas Versus Electric
If you're looking for the most powerful systems on the market with the longest lifespan then you're in the market for a gas-powered leaf blower. If you want to be a little more gentle on planet earth consider a propane powered tool. For maximum convenience take a look at one of the many styles of cordless leaf blowers. These units are lightweight, quiet and easy to maneuver. If these qualities sound good to you but you don't mind having a power cord running to your house in order to be more environmentally friendly (e.g. no batteries in the dump), then today's corded electric models are the right choice for you. Additionally electric models start instantly, require no messy gas-oil mixtures and produce no fumes.

Tips on Buying Leaf Blowers and Vacuums

!: Tips on Buying Leaf Blowers and Vacuums

Leaf blowers and vacuums have become almost a necessity for the house proud, the garden enthusiast and the businessman. They can save time, reduce financial outlay on tedious outdoor corporate cleaning tasks, and make keeping your garden clean and tidy a joy, rather than a frustrating and back breaking experience. There are various models on the market - all the big brands do their own designs and some versions are better for some tasks than others. So this article is all about dividing the wheat from the chaff (and the leaves!), getting down to brass tacks and finding out exactly what is out there and the best way to buy.

Sifting through the different brands

All brands will present a plethora of different models, shapes and sizes and it is a little awe-inspiring sometimes to try and work out what is good, and what is not so good. Below is a short list of fundamental points you should look out for basically these are all factors to do with your safety and how the individual model fits with you:

• First of all the leaf blower should comprise of an efficient vibration-dampening system to minimise vibrations from those parts of the machine that the user comes in contact with. This is essential if you are using the leaf blower for long periods as the constant vibration can be uncomfortable over the long term.

• Whatever the work you are doing you want a machine that suits the task, but at the same time all engines should be powerful and easy to start.

• Before purchasing your blower pay attention to the air speed which is produced and the subsequent air flow. This is going to be the "tool" to make your task easy. The more powerful the better but don't buy a machine that is more expensive because it is more power than you actually need.

• When choosing a backpack model it should have a comfortable and load-reducing harness with hip belt and wide shoulder straps. This will lead to comfort and an even balance of weight during your garden or cleaning task.

The right Equipment for the task

The different leaf blower and vacuums you will see are:

• Backpack: This is usually a petrol powered blower where the machine is actually carried on the back in a canvas type rucksack. A lever juts out at the wearer's right elbow where the throttle is housed. This model is more powerful than its hand held counterparts and this is recognised by the larger exhaust at the front of the machine. Because this model is carried on the back the extra weight is not felt - in fact it is quite light weight. Because it is designed to be used over a long period of time (on large areas or projects) this model is much easier and more mobile than others.

• Handheld (petrol/electric/battery): Held in the hand this model is designed more for the homeowner clearing their garden and garage. Users may find it a little heavier to use than the backpack and you also have to manipulate direction a little more with the wrist action. As it is not as powerful as the backpack, it is perfect for a domestic environment. Due to the on board weight of the petrol it is a little heavier than the electric handheld counterpart. However the downside of the electric model is of course being restricted by the length of the lead to the power source. The solution to this problem is the battery operated handheld which by default is totally cordless. However it should be taken into consideration that the battery life on this equipment is relatively short.

• Walk behind Leaf Blower and Vacuum: The walk behind comes in different shapes and sizes but they are the heavy end of the blower market. They are really used more for industrial environments or if you are lucky enough to have large pieces of land that need clearing or tidying up. They work in the same way as a petrol mower. Easy to use with little need for exertion but the thing you need to take into account specifically is petrol use. Different models will need and eat up varying amounts of petrol. In the long run this could add quite substantially to your costs so pick one which is most thrifty energy wise.

Suck and blow

Sucking up the leaves and creating nice neat piles to leave patio, grassy areas and paths free is indispensible. You can also get blowers which come with a vacuum function. So as well as blowing the leaves and debris from the areas where you want them to be, you can also quickly vacuum them up into the machine. Some machines take this feature one step further with the "mulching function." What this does is suck the leaves up, shreds them and then compresses them to take up less space.

Silence is Golden

An issue to take into account when buying your leaf blower is they can be quite noisy. In fact records have shown that noise levels can be as high as 100 decibels. This may not be a problem for you (though it is advised you use ear protectors when ever you are using your leaf blower and vacuum) but there are your neighbours to consider as well. If noise pollution is an issue for you, consider an electric model as they tend to be much quieter.

Where to buy

Most people automatically think the most convenient place to buy gardening equipment such as a leaf blower is in the local DIY store - and it's true it is a great place to start. But don't forget there is probably an even more convenient place in your own home! The internet offers tons of articles and advice about how to use, maintain and look after your leaf blower. But more than that online stores make buying garden equipment an absolute breeze. In a good reputable online store you will not only get helpful hints, there will be an enormous range of brands, types and models. You will also have access to essential specifications at your finger tips.

Leaf Blower - Choose the Right Option to Experience the Benefits

!: Leaf Blower - Choose the Right Option to Experience the Benefits

Types of Leaf Blowers to Choose From

First of all, it is important that you know the types of blower-vac options available so you can make a better choice. One type of blower that you can purchase is an electric blower. These are usually corded, although there are some cordless options that are available.

When you go with an electric blower-vac, you will find that two basic types are available. There are light duty options and heavy duty options as well. The light duty options are great for doing your driveway, deck, or your front porch. The larger heavy duty options are better for when you need some extra power.

There are gas blower-vac options available as well. You will find that these options are going to be a bit more expensive than the electric leaf blower options available to you. They make more noise and they are heavier as well. However, you can use them anywhere, which is great if you have a larger yard to deal with.

Even backpack leaf blower options are available. These are the most power options out there and they are very heavy, which is why they are designed to go on your back. They are the best option if you have a huge yard.

Choosing the Right Leaf Blower-Vac

Now that you are familiar with the different options available, you may be wondering how you choose the right leaf blower for your needs. Well the first thing to keep in mind is to take the time to compare all the different models that are available. Take a look at the power that the blower has before buying. Think about the power that you need and then choose a blower that has enough power to get the job done.

You may want to consider the noise level as well when you are choosing a leaf blower. Price is also something that you should consider. Decide what your budget is and then try to find a good blower vac that is in your price range. The size of lawn you have can also affect the choice that you make.

Benefits of Using One

Once you have a leaf blower of your own, you will find that there are many different benefits to using one. One benefit is that you can save a whole lot of time. Just think about how long it would take you to do the job without the blower. This should convince that this is a good buy.

Another benefit is the quality work that a leaf blower will do for you. You would never be able to do this type of work on your own with the same quality. This makes this purchase well worth the money that you spend. It is easy to see that there are many benefits to having a leaf blower-vac of your own, so consider your options and then choose one that will work well for your own landscaping needs.
